Using Comtrade to Find Worldwide Trade Flow



About Comtrade 

Comtrade is a product of the United Nations Statistics Division.  Comtrade is a complex statistical database with numerous ways to retrieve and view data.  Comtrade provides commodity trade data for all available countries and areas since 1962. Currently, it contains more than 1 billion records.  Please note:  As a guest you have limited data formats.  You may register (Fee based) for full functionality.

Purpose:

The purpose of this guide is to help the user to get a comprehensive worldwide picture of the market for their specific product.

Product Specific Reports

  1. Click on http://unstats.un.org/unsd/comtrade/.
  2. Here, you'll have two viable options.
  3. Comtrade @ UN Data (UN Comtrade data on UN data)
  4. Choose your product, view data and identify the specific subset you require.
  5. You can then use the filters on the left hand side to select the specific country and year desired.
  6. Tables published in the International Trade Statistics Yearbook is the other major option.  Here you'll have the following:
